About Us

A volunteer, not-for-profit corporation founded by Sheriff E.A. “Doug” Hendry in 1962, Junior Deputies works in cooperation with the Collier County Sheriff’s office to provide programs and support to the youth of Collier County. With assistance from Junior Deputies, area youth learn drug and alcohol resistance, crime prevention, first aid, firearms safety, land stewardship, self-esteem, and respect for parents, teachers and law enforcement.

Presently, Junior Deputies provide all Collier 4th graders a “free day” to the Collier County Fair, and all Collier 5th graders a Campout during spring break; over 3,000 students have participated annually. In addition, 2013 marks the 7th year for the Kids Love Fishing event hosted by Junior Deputies and held at Camp Discovery.
